Been back in mpls, MN for about two months now. Living the good life again. The poor and ambitious life. Life filled with the simple luxuries that Vegas could NEVER give someone. Recently obtained a boat and have frequently been fishing the Ole Miss with close friends. Fishing is therapeutic in so many ways that its unreal. You go down, crack a few cold ones, maybe toke a few, and learn what patience is like again. (i'll post some pics soon) And theres nothing more rewarding than reeling in a pig of a fish! Besides fishing, I've gotten rid of the rust on my legs due to lack of skateboarding in Vegas. Feeling comfortable on a board again and looking forward to filming and putting together a video production with the homies next yr.
I've learned a lot about relationships in the past two months for whatever reason. I've really stood back and looked at myself and the people I surround myself with and am very thankful to have the friends that I do. I'm moving into a duplex with my best friend Matt and his lovely girlfriend Allison. The most awesome people you could ever know. I can't wait to finally be settled. I've got many ambitions and schemes to better my life in the coming year. The confidence is high and I feel better than I ever have. I look forward to connecting with all my old friends and meeting new ones. The future is bright and life is good. Holla!

Since last time I posted I had a $1300 night at the local casino, which enabled me to buy a truck finally. Thank God. Theres a few pics in there of various other casino wins. It's not even that close to state fair time, but I can't wait to gain 15lbs in one day and just people watch when I eat so much that I can't walk anymore. P.S Mojo Roots plays at the Cafe Cariba every year. You think you know, but you have no idea. Awesome Reggae band.

You have no idea how bad I miss skateboarding. I try to go out once and a while by myself as I know absolutely nobody that skates in Las Vegas. Hard to get motivated to skate by yourself anymore. Weird how that works. A lot of descent spots here, just no one to skate them with and it's hotter than hell right now. (110degrees to be exact) I can't wait to knock the dust off my skate shoes and start having fun again. This is what I was born to do. Can't wait to see all you guys again soon!

This is an interesting 60 minutes segment that my boss told me about... I could definitely see this as the future of electricity. How cool is this? A roughly 7"X7" box that could easily power your home with no strings attached. The CEO of Ebay had some installed at they're headquarters and have already saved them over $100,000 in electricity bills!

I found this gem of a video that I didn't know about on the Plat. Kudos to all those dudes that put in hours of work to make that area skateable. I don't know how many nights I spent up there just drinkin 40's and skating that box with some car headlights and/or generators. Biz your the man! And the other dudes that are of equal importance. (dude who is always rockin the military style hat, I always forget his name.) I seen this spot as it grew from nothing into one of the best spots to skate in Mpls and one of my favorite spots just to chill out and session with the homies. This is what skateboarding in Minnesota/Midwest is all about! If/when I move back to Mpls, best believe I'll be back there skating that spot and down to help build anything anyone wants to collaborate on! Better than ANY public skatepark. Viva "The Badlands"

Decided to post a few older skate video parts that played a role in my skateboard upbringing. I watched some of these parts religiously everyday... Before and after skating all day...
If I was hangin at Matt's house we often watched Trilogy, cuz he's the only one I know that has it. Clyde's part was probably my favorite. I've always skated a lot of fakie, so maybe I could relate.

Or if you wanna see absolutely every trick regular and switch you could argue that Lavar McBride's part in Trilogy does that... (I'm feelin' that first song too)

I show people this part today, and they can't believe this was Marc Johnson. He's come a long way. From Transworld's first video called, "Uno". My second video I ever bought. Still watching it too...

This was one of my favorite videos I owned for a while. I watched it all the time and had really good skating of everyone. Then I borrowed it to my friend Cory Bowman and don't think I ever got it back. Bummer. If anyone has this video and is willing to sell it to me at a fair price, gimme a holla!

I don't think Laban Pheidas is the greatest skateboarder of all time, but I found myself watching this part over and over when I was younger. I guess he directs or produces much of the skateboarding shows that are on Fuel TV now...?

And my final video pick would be the Toy Machine video, "Welcome To Hell" I couldn't tell you how many times we watched that video in our early years of skating. I couldn't pick just one part that gets me hyped cuz the whole video rules. That video still gets me hyped to skate now. I think I'll do that... Peace.

1. Names, Nicknames, or Aliases'? Hunkle, a_hunks, Hunks, Crunks, Crunkle, Drunkle, the girls that I fuck call me papi alot. Count Hunkula (Mike Guy calls me that), Hunksnitch ( D-Ross calls me that) my mom calls me Drew.

2. Years in the Game? in the game of life I'm on year 25, skate game probably about 13 but subtract 2 years for tearing my ACL and meniscus. I still considered myself a skateboarding pimp though so I will count all 13 years. I was taking a break so i could get better at drinking and having one night stands with women.

3. What’ve you been doin with yourself? I just been chillin. Tryin to skate as much as I can but I'm busy with work and the music biz shit. I get out to the hiawatha bowl whenever I can. I'm getting real hyped for summer shredding though. I guess Tha Dolo got comeback of the year, I hope to take that for myself in 2010.

4. You recently moved from your prime real estate in Uptown… Where did you move to now? How do you like it so far? Miss your old place? I did indeed move from some prime real estate in uptown... Man, that spot was the shit... Could be as loud as i wanted... Lived with Hirte still... Right down the road from Cal Surf, Familia, and shit tons of bars. Summa summa summa time was the biz, girls walking down the street in bikinis and shit. I miss that for sure, it's all good though. I moved in with my homeboy Prof over on the southside of Mpls. We do the music thang together so we thought it would motivate the both of us to work harder if we lived together. It's been good, boring at times but I've chilled out on dranking and living here made it so I was able to quit smoking... Thats right, i quit smoking... Kinda...

5. How’s the skating coming along since your crippled ass knee/tendons got welded back together? Are you part Terminator now? Like I said earlier I've been skating when I can. I'm not part terminator at all. They actually used part of my patellar tendon to fix my ACL. If I had a scanner I would send all the pictures they took of the inside of my knee. But I dont so fuck you.

6. It seems like your cars are constantly getting towed and impounded… Is that something that your into? Do you get amped when that sort of thing happens? I get major red rockets over that kinda shit. Like "damn dude, my car just broke. Time to jerk off". Hell no! I hate that shit. But my dad whips, so he does it and it's cheap. He's always been into selling and workin on cars n shit so I always have shitty ass cars. so they always get fucked up. I got AAA though. And let me tell you... That shit is fresh. Fuckin tow truck drivers can be some real little bitches though. Makin me wanna slap the shit out a grown ass man with their attitudes...

7. So what’s the deal with the whole music thing? How exactly are you tied in with the local hip-hop scene in Mpls? We got record label called STOPHOUSE. I run the street team and should be transitioning into the distribution part over the next couple of months. I got asked to help out just from knowing the right people I guess. I've learned a lot about music and business over the last year and half since we started it up its been mad fun.

8. What do you think of Familia moving to uptown somewhat near Cal Surf and potentially taking away business from them? I thought it was fucked up, but I couldnt stay mad about it. Those are my dudes. Both groups of people have done so much for me. I'm very appreciative and wish both parties the best of luck. I really hope the situation works...

9. Where have you been skating lately? The Hiawatha Bowl. Dooner has a key and hits me up a couple times a week to shred. It's kinda hard being that I'm a street skater and prefer ledges,banks, flatbars and shit but its been good just rollin around trying to get my hesh on. Ya know?

10. Tell us about your recent stint in Juvie… hahahahaha. I dont get caught for the stupid shit I do...

11. What’s your fav. Drink & what’s your fav. place to drink it? Beer- Miller Lite or Guinness. Liquor- Jameson with a ginger ale chaser.

I know it's been a hella long time since I've posted anything here on the ole blog, but I've finally got a few things to write about. I'm In NE mpls right now being the guy on the couch at Matt and Jon's crib. Hours from my departure back to Las Vegas. Patiently waiting to see what happens with the snow storm thats hours from here. Will it cancel out my flight? Will I be stuck here? Forced to hit up local bars and get heavy intoxicated some more? Will I need surgery to have the fricken smile removed from my face? As much as I HATE snow... I miss MN, I miss my friends, and I miss my family... A few more days here wouldn't be the end of the world. I got another tattoo last night via a good homie(Paul Bosch). We drank pretty good amounts of Old Style over the week I was here. And got a good 4 hour session out at the Hiawatha. Had an awesome happy hour at the Independent.(2 for 1's cocktails are no joke) I got a few ridiculous videos passed along to me, so I guess I'll share them here. Wednesday, Sept. 30 yo. Stayed out gambling until 4am last night! Our house has been full of tourists for the past two weeks or so. At least it seems like that long. Last night was EdTV's(Don's friend visiting from MN, who does outrageously funny things that don't conform with anyone. ALL THE TIME... Hence EDTV) last night here so we ended up stayin out pretty late. I turned my $40 into $220 on some crazy slot machine bonus games, but then pissed away $100 while waiting for what seemed like forever to leave the strip. Still on the + side though so i'm stoked.
Last week we went and seen the Presidents Of The United States Of America play for free at the pool @the Rio. Kick ass show! Got an autographed copy of they're first cd. Hype.
I've got the next few days off so I'll be out skating and hittin a few casinos more than likely. The weather is beautiful right now... Today was about 75 and sunny with a nice breeze. Man, we've been waitin for this weather all summer. A little glimpse of my winter to come. LOVE IT.
I was seriously contemplating this but can't get down with the cost of a roundtrip airline ticket. I'm lookin at $350-$370 just for the weekend. I'd be fun for sure, and I would do it for sure if it were about $100 less. Just another great thing I'll miss out on this year. Oh well, theres always next year. Gonna start shredding more now that the weather isn't so crazy hot anymore. OPEN INVITE TO ANYONE COOL THAT WANTS TO SEE/SKATE LAS VEGAS! You pay for your flight and I'll pay for your Ramen noodles and you'll have a place to crash for the weekend... Many rooms here to stay in.(it's gonna sound pretty damn nice come January in MN!)

Woke up today at 9:15am(after drinking heavily until 4am last night) to get up and head to the local casinos' sports book. We don't get a lot of the MN teams broadcasted out here(on reg cable) in Vegas unless they're playin some Cali teams. So we go to the sports books to watch some games. And football sunday starts 2hrs earlier via the time zone difference. Anyways the place is completely packed full of dudes. They've got they're hands full with bet tickets, $1 beers, and as many $1 hot dogs they can hold.(awesome deal by the way.) We get there right at kickoff and theres absolutely no where for all of us to sit. So we end up standing the whole game which didn't matter. We were the obnoxiously loud Vikings fans in the back that would clap as loud as we could when the vikes scored or made a big stop. We often got weird, and sometimes crusty looks from the majority of the crowd that were 49er fans. They were equally loud when the niners scored, but with 4X the people! It came down to the last minutes of the game! I/we thought we were gonna walk outta there with our tails between our legs, but with 12 seconds left miracle man Brett Favre throws up a pass that was absolutely perfect while nearly getting sacked.(Any higher-uncatchable. Any lower-interception.) And Greg Lewis jumps up to make an unbelievable catch, manages to come down with his left foot right on the out of bounds line and is somehow able to drag his other foot before falling out of bounds to win the game for the Vikings. Best Vikings game I've watched in a LONG time. The niners definitely gave us a run for the money though. I will say that.

No Coffee?

So I didn't work at all last week due to there being no jobs for us to do. (we install artificial grass in commercial & residential properties) And I usually drink homemade iced coffee everyday during work as we're up at 4:45am on work days. Well not having work last week, I didn't need the coffee because I slept in everyday, until one day I woke up early and NEEDED my coffee... I just finished grindin some beans and was gonna rinse out the pot and fill up the coffeemaker, when CLANK! I nicked the edge of the sink with the decanter. I cracked the piece of shit and have been coffeeless ever since. I'm workin everyday this week so it's gonna be a hell of a challenge not having my morning coffee and cigarettes! You might say what the hell? Why doesn't he just go out and buy another coffeemaker? Well, that's because I want one of these. I used to not be that into coffee until trying some gourmet blends and having coffee out of one of these. It is the BEST coffee I've EVER had. So I made up my mind to hold out on a coffeemaker until I can afford to go out and buy one of these miracle makers. They run around $100. Only a select few of my friends have them and I look forward to waking up hungover on they're couches and making that miracle coffee. Call me weird, but now I've got expense taste.

What game? Almost 23 in the life game, About two in the dope game, and ten in the skate game thing.

3. What’ve you been doin with yourself lately? Where’ve you been this past year? You seemed a little MIA for a while…
Yea, I was super dirty, and it took me awhile to get clean.

4. For all that don’t know about your drug stint, would you care to fill them in?
Everybody could just watch Trainspotting and that would just about sum it up. But for real though, I got addicted to painkillers. Percocet, Oxycontin, Phentanyl, Dilaudid, all that shit. And it got to the point where I wasn't gettin enough from the croakers I was going to see, so I started having to buy them, and that shit gets expensive. Especially Oxycontin, and for how many oxy's I was doing a day It made more sense to just jump on the heroin bandwagon since its alot cheaper. But then I was stickin needles in my arm and droppin every penny on that shit, so I got in a Methadone clinic to get off the H. But Methadone fucked my shit up worse than the Heroin did, and I was sick of going to the done clinic every day so I quit that shit coldturkey which you're not supposed to do because it's dangerous. The withdrawals were worse than heroin withdrawals. And they lasted about a goddamn month.

5. How do you plan on overcoming it?
I'm just gonna keep myself busy by doing interviews for your blog. No, ummm I just try to stay busy with different shit. Reading, writing, I started playing Hockey with Dennis (Swearingen) and that helps alot. Actually kickin it with dennis in general helps alot. He's been through similar shit, but he's not constantly stressin over it like alot of other addicts do. We just chill and watch skate videos and look at stupid shit on the internet. Chain smoking and an occasional beer helps too.

6. How long have you been sober now?
147 excrutiatingly long days.

7. Are you tired of getting asked about your drug habits or are people too polite or passive aggressive to ask?
It depends, some people treat me like a fucking six year old with the flu. Talk down to me type shit, that's annoying. Some people are suspicious towards me, like constantly tryin to get me to admit that I relapsed or some shit. And some people don't talk to me at all anymore, which is there choice, I don't really care. Unless they're one of the people who won't talk to me anymore, but they used to buy pills off me. Those people can suck a dick. For the most part though I don't mind talkin bout it, and it's nice when my homies ask me how I'm doin. I just don't want my past heroin addiction to define me. I'm sure most people remember when I was good at other shit besides bein a junky.

8. What happened to the “Deadstrong video”? It seemed to be going good with a lot of people contributing in numerous ways and then it just hit a brick wall… Did you lose motivation?
I didn't really lose motivation, I wanted to keep it goin, but me gettin clean kinda interrupted it. The withdrawals took so much outta me mentally, and physically. I lost like thirty pounds and had blood pressure problems and crazy insomnia. I just said fuck it, I gotta get healthy and get my life straightened out before I jump back into filming.

9. What locals and/or nationwide skateboarders or filmers get you hyped to do your thing?
The local skaters that get me hyped are your fat ass, Jon Egan, your drunk brother, Dennis Swearingen, Casey Copenhaver, Matt Weinhagen when he's not faking an injury, it's always fun skatin with C.J. and Eddie too. As far as filmers go I'm pretty hyped on Beagle (the Baker filmer) especially when I heard he beat the piss out of Corey Duffel. And locally, Phil (Schwartz) is pretty surgical with a video camera.

10. Any thoughts or ideas on making a video in the future?
Fuckin A!!! Me, you, Dennis Swearingen, Jon Egan, Matt Weinhagen, Justin Longfield, and anybody else who's fat and washed up.

11. Musical influences?
Slayer, Broken Social Scene, Rhymefest, P.O.S., Eyedea and Abilities, Buck 65, The Anticon crew, Zacharia from Kanser, Prof and Rahzwell, Lamb of God, Modest Mouse, I don't know a bunch of shit.

Ummmmmmm. One time at a wedding reception I actually got so drunk that I blacked out and woke up face first in an alley with a flask in my hand. That and the time the end of my dick closed up for some reason and I had to go to the E.R. and the croaker had to cut the end of it open and stick a tweezers down the end of it and rip it open to widen it. Those were fun times.

15. What are your thoughts on the “skate” scene?
I don't have any right now. I've been out of it for a minute. If I had anything good to say about it, it would be that there are alot of kids killin it right now. If I had anything bad to say about it, I'd say it's gotten a little cocky and pretencious. I think some people have forgotten where they came from.

16. Where do you see it going or where would you like to see it go?
I don't know where it's going but I would like to see it calm down a little I guess. I think it's gonna blow a load in it's own shorts pretty soon.

17. Favorite U.S. City or location & Why?
Australia, because it's real easy to get to drunk and wander into the bush and get bit by something poisonous and die.

"Junky" by William S. Burroughs. It's around two hundred pages of him talking about his life as a heroin addict, and all the dumbfuck shit he did. Pretty good anti-drug book.

21. What would you like to accomplish in 1year? 5years?
In 1 year I want to have most of the new video under our belt. In 5 years I want a house with a big yard, and a dog, and two kids runnin around, and a wife with enough plastic surgery work done to ensure that I have to never deal with her looking older.

22. How many cigarettes did you smoke while doin this interview?
Zero, Amazingly.

I'm back on the Newport program. Pack to a pack and a half a day.

Got up at 6am to head out to the skatepark this morning, and had a shit session. Wasn't really skating bad, just couldn't get totally warmed up, and I just wasn't feelin it. Too much on my mind probably. I just over a week I'll be here again! And I just heard this morning on almost every channel that Brett Favre will be playing for the Vikes this year! (not that I care)
I can't wait to get out and skate with the homies again. I'm sure we'll have some of these and definitely some of these! We're hittin up the MN State Fair to see the sights and see Mojo Roots play on Friday as well as havin a early morning coffee and skate session. Saturday I'm heading over to my Aunts crib for a little family reunion. I guess they wanna see what a Las Vegan looks like for a few hours... Ha! Can't wait to see all the fam again. I made some paintings for all the women in the family as well as my pops. I know they'll like what I've done.
I haven't been working too much lately, which is kinda nice, yet is VERY boring. I've been doing a lot of paintings, and trying to keep up on my skating as much as possible. I was gonna get a Nevada fishing license, but I guess you've gotta be a resident for at least six months to get one... BUMMER. Why does shit gotta be so difficult. I just wanna go fishing.
I've also spent a lot of time on the internet surfin around lookin at weird and interesting shit. And thought I might pass on a few laughs, or give you something to think about!

Only 17 more days until I visit the close friends and family in Minneapolis! Can't be more excited to finally get some quality skateboarding in with all the homies. We're planning on hitting up the MN state fair which is the best time in the world if you've never been to it, it's definitely worth checking out. Theres an awesome Reggae band that we go see there every year called MOJO ROOTS! They are the best. It's fairly close to the DNR building in a little beer gardens area. The bassist frequents Fat Matt's place of business to peep the instruments out from time to time. Cool guys.
Work is slowing down a little bit here and I've been able to have a few days off. I'm super restless and will be waking at the crack of dawn yet again tomorrow... Not to work, but to hit the skatepark. I go early before the sun gets to high in the sky where it's ridiculously hot. Plus it's nice to have the place to yourself for a while. A little soul session if you will... Gotta keep up on my skills so I don't look like a dewshbag skating when I roll with the homies. HA! I've been able to get out to the park 2-3 times a week lately and scraped the proverbial rust from my skate abilities. Which feels good. Speaking of skating I seen this video on Fuel TV yesterday and thought it to be ridiculous. Adrian Williams is the shit. And apparently grew up skating in Alaska. That shows something right there. Manny Santiago which comes before Adrian doesn't hurt the eyes either. Amazing gusto from both. Watch for yourself.

3. What’ve you been up to as of late? How you livin?
Working 2 jobs, taking summer classes, playing on two hockey teams and trying to film some stuff for the F.L. Project vid. when I get the chance.

4. 1st memories of skateboarding? Early influences?
Skating in my basement and trying to ollie onto the mattress that was down there. I threw my 14th B-Day party in the basement with 6 friends and we had all just started skating. We spent about 4 hours trying to successfully ollie on that mattress.
Influence was no doubt Ed Templeton. I dressed like him and tried to skate like him for years!!

5. I say your first board is a lot like losing your virginity(like you’ll remember it forever) Do you agree? What was your first board and how did you acuire it?
My first board was a Powell called "Scortchy's Birthday". It was right next to that retarded Angel Boy graphic at Champs in the Maplewood Mall. My friend Travis who didn't skate actually stole the whole assembled complete from Champs and surprised me with it. This was just before my 14th b-day. I was so hyped because I had wanted a skateboard for the longest time.

6. Favorite movies?
Idiocracy I could watch over and over. The 1st Crow movie with Brandon Lee (RIP) and Being John Malkovich. There are many more but those really stand out for me. Young Guns, Miracle on Ice are amazing too.

7. How does skateboarding differ now from when you first started?
It just seems way more technical yet like it gets easier and easier for newbies to pick up a board and be sponsored a year later. Skaters are progressing so fast I find myself kind of bitter. But I had so much fun learning to skate that I can't complain.

8. What music do you listen to?
Metal. Mudvayne, Megadeth, Lamb of God. I am just starting to get into Children of Bodom.

9. Favorite Porn Star?
I still find myself peeping Jenna Haze scenes more often than not.

10. Everyone knows you had your problems with drugs & such…
How do you think those experiences shaped you as a person? Any regrets?
How did it affect your skating in a positive way? Negative way?
I definitely experienced some negative consequences all around. My skating suffered overall. I had fun for the most part but if I could do things differently I would have made some different choices for sure. In a way I feel like over-coming this obstacle helped shape who I am and I am proud of that. I do however have my regrets.

11. Your current board setup?
City deck, Thunder Mark Johnson trucks, Spitfire 54mm wheels, FKD bearings and Emerica mid top shoes. I forget the model.

12. What does an average day consist of for you?
Its different everyday. My ideal average day though would be to wake up at 9am on a Thursday morning to a bowl of Count Chocula, watch some TV and head out to the hockey rink in White Bear. Play puck for an hour and a half, take a shower and then go home. I might take a quick nap after this.
Call Jared Hudalla at about 2pm and meet up with him at Shoreview skatepark, shred there for a half hour and then head out to Oakdale and meet up with J. Heim and A. Hart.
Get home at 5pm, eat some din, clean the house and just chill and watch TV until the next series of events took place. Those events would most likely consist of eating again and watching MMA fighting on Versus followed by a good night of sleep!

13. Who do you like to skate with & who stands out or gets you stoked in the MN scene?
Jared, Trent Hafdahl, you and Matt Weinhagen.
A.Hart when I actually get a chance to meet up with him.
Guys that get me stoked? Anyone that pushes and encourages me to skate hard and try new shit.
Skating with A. Hart pushes me. Plus when I am having a real bad session I can always count on that dude to bust some shit out that impresses me.
IDk. Watching Compher and Jamiel will never get old.
I just like skating with cats that are having fun. That's something I could learn to do better. "Have fun while skating".

14. Favorite locals that aren’t skating anymore or as often?
Ragsdale? I never really met him, but his part in Midopoly had me so hyped.

15. Favorite foods?
Pizza, Tacos, and Pizza and Pasta.

16. What do you do for fun other than skate?
Play a lot of Hockey!! I love it. I quit for years and just recently got back into it. I play on 2 different teams in an organized league in Blaine. Its so sick.

17. When was your favorite time period or best memories of skateboarding for you? Who were you skating with and what places where you skating?
When I was 15 and 16. Mike Hart and I meeting Jason Hutchison, Jared Hudalla. Those were the days man. We would skate downtown White Bear every night after school until 8 or 9 O'clock.
Sometimes we would skate with Alex Parenteau, Steve Johnson, Matt Padzjonious, Garrett Reed and Jeremy Jazz. Those were the cats we looked to the most. They were so sick!!

18. Where do you see skateboarding going?
South of Heaven. It needs to. Skateboarding will never be skateboarding again until it does.

I'm 20 days deep in Sin City. Matt left exactly one week ago, after a steady fake life diet of 2weeks. We gambled, got intoxicated, and visited only a small fraction of what there is to be seen here...
It's sunny and in the 90's everyday. Sarah(my GF) & Josh(another Partybooths employee) started working immediately. Leaving me on my own with no agenda. I've been working on finding a job. Although maybe not as hard as I should or could without a car. I sold my custom whip(91 Honda Accord plastered in Sk8 stickers) before we set sail in a 16ft. Penske moving truck. I'm now living 1600 miles away from the 10,000 lakes, tight pants, and fixed gear bikes... I miss it somewhat. I think it's just the comfort of knowing the city so well, and of course, my close homies(Fat Matt, Jon(cheese), Mike, and Aaron(P. Wills)...
Our late night skate adventures in downtown MPLS that always included a few pints, and a trip to Pizza Luce to see Vinnie, Gooch, and Wiley(bartenders that kick your bartenders ass!) will always be cherished.
I now live 15-20 minutes by car from the metro area. It's ridiculously quiet here at night. It's very peaceful, and is when I do all my thinking. What can I do for work? How should I go about finding some heads to skate with? Where's my next payday? Should I paint or draw something? I'm getting restless... I wanna do BIG things. I'm the type thats almost always gotta have something going on. I've been getting by with help from my loving GF, Sarah.
since being out here i've picked up frisbee golf. As Josh goes almost every afternoon. The courses are very green which is rare in a place thats infested with rock & cactus'.
I was going to enroll at The Las Vegas Institute Of Art, but that idea was quickly shot down when I found out it was about a 3-4 hour trip one way, by bus, to the campus. Without my car and my homies, I've got little motivation... But I'm full of ideas, and my head is a hamster wheel that is always turning. I just gotta get my foot in the door somewhere and start getting into a routine.
My mom might be coming out to visit in a week or so. It'll be nice to visit with her without work getting in the way, but damn... I wish I had a job or something to show for my first few weeks here. I'm planning on posting some pics of the immaculate house that we're living in. Theres so much room, that we really don't need to see each other unless we really want to. Theres intercoms in each room to talk to one another without having to take a hike to another part of the house.
We've been watching the NHL playoffs religiously since we got here. Still hoping the Chicago Blackhawks can turn things around and whoop the Red Wings. Fucking hate them.(I wouldn't date Elisha Cuthbert if she was a Red Wings fan!) We've also been watching the NBA playoff. Just not as closely as hockey... I'm thinking it'll be, Lakers vs. Cavaliers. Lebron is the man, and I hope they waste the Lakers and that pussy(Kobe). Not that he's not amazing... I think he should just whine less, and something about him says he needs to be more humble...? What do I know?! If it were up to me, Kevin and the Celtics would still be in it... I think this year is just an exception but, I think next year Boston is gonna give everyone a run for they're money....

I went and played 28holes of Frisbee golf, and went on a hour long bike ride today and the way I'm tanning up... I'm gonna look like Martin Lawrence or Antonio Banderas pretty soon.(getting golden). Gotta run... Peace Friends! Thanks for reading... Stay in touch.

Me and Sarah are moving to Las Vegas, NV in T-minus 22days so I thought I'd post some pictures of good memories and events with my closest friends... I'm gonna miss all of you sooo much.(you have no idea) Thanks for the good times. It's a small world and I'll make every effort to stay in touch with all of you!! Hopefully you all can come visit us in Sin City and vice versa. I'll be visiting Mn in summer only though.! I hate the snow and have had enough of that for a lifetime. So we just watched this movie, "Gummo" after years of hearing Jon and his GF Kelly tell us it's good(and weird) . Yes, It is VERY weird, and pretty disturbing. Good? No. It's an hour and a half of my life that I'll never get back is what it is! The only reason I watched as long as I did is because I wanted to see how much weirder it would get. There is however, a cameo appearance by Mark Gonzalez. In which he gives a chain a beatdown. A+ for creativity and overally weirdness... Thats all I have to say about that. Me and Sarah went to Las Vegas, NV for 5days to check it out as the company that she works for is moving there... Needless to say we had a blast(Sarah won $1,000 big ones, one morning on nickel slots) endless sunshine, nice cars, and palm trees. We're sold on the moving to Las Vegas deal and will be planning and moving in roughly two months... Here are some of the rad things we saw over the 5days we were there... Enjoy.

Off to Sin City for the weekend to lose some money.(the economic recession doesn't effect the people that are already poor) It will be a nice little MUCH needed vacation. I can barely remember the last vacation I took(with Jon to visit our mom in Florida-2004 or 2005?) Maybe I can't remember it because it was sooo long ago or maybe it was because we partied our asses off and the trip was a little on the blurry side. Regardless, I'm finally getting away for a nice relaxing weekend with my special lady friend. I think I'm gonna take advantage of everything I can in the short time I'm there. Hopefully when I get back I'll have an interesting story to tell or some good pictures to share.

This is why I admire hockey more than any other sport. I watch as many wild games as I possibly can. There's so much going on during the entire game. It's fast paced, energetic, theres penalties, but your actually allowed to fight. And the fights are actually sportsmanlike. You can't play this game if you can't skate. And unlike the sissys in the NBA throwin sucker punches, spittin at fans, kicking cameramen and whatnot... Theres no steroid hype in hockey like baseball or football(thats a huge plus in my book). There's not those astronomical million dollar contracts either. These guys genuinely love the game and would/are doin it for peanuts... Anyone thats ever been to a game will agree that it's an adrenaline rush just bein in the Xcel Energy Center when the Wild score, kill of a penalty, or if theres a good hit or a fight. This is my sport, other than skateboarding.(But skateboarding isn't a sport in my eyes either...)

The song is REALLY homosexual, but I get stoked watching all the highlights. I watched almost every game they portrayed in the video too, so thats cool seein old stuff I forgot about.

So I got together with "jump to conclusions Matt" this weekend to do a little interview and like many things in our lives, it didn't work out like it should have. Needless to say he'll still be interviewed for my blog. Just at a later date. We still managed to catch a pretty healthy buzz and bullshit about life and it's little twists. Topics of skateboarding, politics, the complexities of oral sex, beer, bowel movements, sexual positions, and marijuana vs. cigarettes vs. alcohol, were all discussed. So that's what you can look forward to. It was fun, and hopefully we can finish it up and have it for ya'll to indulge in really soon. Get at me Matt. Let's get it rollin again next weekend...

Winter Hate.

My Corvette broke down today(really a piece of shit 91 honda Accord covered in skate stickers). I went to leave work at 10pm(a shift that I was forced to work or get laid off) and I go to start my corvette and nothing. The starter went out. I fucked with that thing for about an hour, calling it every name in the book, contemplated busting out the windows, and all the lights before calling it quits and heading back inside. I finally reached Jonny boy around 11 or 1130 and bein the homie that he is. Hopped in the grand caravan and drove to pick me up and gimme a ride home. What a guy. He was in his pajama bottoms ready for bed, and he still came to help a cracker out. Appreciate that man. I owe ya. Now that I'm home I can start to worry about how I'll get back to work tomorrow and when I'll be able to go freeze my ass off replacing the starter. You see, I never had rich parents that bail you out of situations like this. (you know what I'm talkin bout) I can't just have it towed to the shop down the road and pay for them to fix it for me. I'll be braveing the elements in the days to come. At my place of employment gettin down and dirty with my car replacing the starter myself. Everyone should do a task such as this once and a while. I remember the first time my friend Corey Bowman(the only other skateboarder in my high school besides myself at the time) showed me the Evol video and Adam McNatt's part blew my mind. Alot of those tricks are still legit for this day in age. I think he's a tattoo artist or something now. At least thats what I remember hearing. It'd be rad to get a tat from him just because.

Nanda Zipp from the first skate video I bought(Sonic Skateboards-One Louder) I fricken loved this video and damn near wore the VCR out replaying this video over and over. It came out 95-96? I think. Nanda Zipp is no longer with us RIP. I really liked his part with the acoustics and whatnot so here it is or there it was... Gone but not forgotten.

Tom Knox's part from the Sonic Video One Louder as well. It might not look like much now, but I fuckin studied this part like it was the first naked woman i ever seen. I wanted to learn all those flip tricks, and grinds that I was seein for the first time... Awesome video. I still have it too.

Kris Markovich from an early 411VM. This part still gets me hyped as hell. I remember when I first seen this part being really psyched on how fast he skated(something lacking from today I think) and thought the rails he was doin and grinding the back of a pickup truck was the coolest... Then he pulls out a Bud while wakeboarding and starts drinking it. Fuckin stud. Nuff said. Markovich still rules in my book.

Hey peeps. Just thought I'd drop this before heading to bed. I'll be getting together at an undisclosed location to swig 40's and take some knowledge from a few of my close friends and fellow skateboarders this weekend. So look for some interviews early next week hopefully. I'll try to come up with some other content until then... I went up to Grand Casino Hinkley with my special lady friend over valentines day weekend. Maybe I'll post on that? I don't know. Who really cares about that other than me? Whatev.
